I decided I wanted to try making some things to sell, and hats seemed like the best thing to make. I had some beautiful marble effect yarn in the house so started with that
Using the pattern from the book that started everything for me, I made my first few hats and they worked up really nicely so I tried making some with other yarn too
These hats weren’t quite as nice and I’ve since decided not to use them
At one point in 2021, I was working all the spare hours I had getting ready for a craft fair to try and sell some of the products I’d been making all year. But, COVID 19 had other ideas and I ended up testing positive the weekend before, missing the craft fair entirely. The last photo is all the hats I had ready to sell at the fair
I’ve made other design hats that work much better since, but this will always be my go-to pattern for quick beanie hats

Hats were some of the first things I streamed making and as the community grew, people started making suggestions for other hats to make
Someone suggested making a hat that looked like Hetty (for more info on Hetty, check out the Hetty section here)
A mixture of the Beanie Hats pattern and the Hetty Pattern, I’ve made several of these and my own one has become a favourite part of my Twitch streams

I came across this free pattern on a craft website and was immediately inspired to try making it. Based on a knitted design from the 1800’s it was much simple to make than I expected
Made with 100% wool, it is a very cozy design with the added benefit of the hat and scarf all being one piece. So you know you always have a matching set
Not sure I’d make another though because, as simple as it was, it was very time consuming to make. But definitely a conversation starter when people see you wearing it
